Adam Ferry, Occupational Therapist, will continue his popular series of assisted bathing seminars at OTAC Southampton in association with Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions.

Occupational Therapy Adaptation Conference (OTAC), Hilton Hotel Ageas Bowl, The Ageas Bowl Stadium, Botley Road. Southampton. SO30 3XH. 11th September 2019. 9am–4pm.

OTAC events provide vital information for professionals and charities responsible for recommending housing adaptations and assistive equipment so disabled clients can live with greater support and independence. OTAC encompasses a comprehensive showcase from specialist product manufacturers and service providers alongside a CPD-accredited seminar programme. Counting to compulsory CPD hours for healthcare professionals, OTAC educational sessions provide up to date information regarding a variety of topics relevant to everyday practice. As an established content provider at OTAC events, Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions and Adam Ferry, OT, will deliver the following presentation at the Southampton Hilton Hotel:

A client centred approach to bathing

Adam Ferry, Occupational Therapist, The OT Service. Theatre 2. 11:00 – 11:30am.
This seminar highlights clinical and legislative evidence to support bath justification and funding. Delegates will be able to discuss the wellbeing-related and safety benefits of bathing verses adapted showering, as well as the benefits to OTs of prescribing a specialist bath for clients.

This seminar includes highlights from the nationwide training programme provided by Abacus. Enhanced by a new educational vehicle, Abacus has an ongoing workshop programme which supports OTs, Physiotherapists and moving and handling practitioners free of charge. It includes product demonstrations and ‘lunch and learn’ sessions which can be tailored to the needs of professionals and held in any suitable location. Content focuses on delivering a more positive bathing experience for bather and carers. Adult and paediatric care is explored through a variety of topics including legislation, play, moving and handling and appropriate product provision.

On stand 13 at OTAC Southampton, Abacus will be demonstrating its latest innovation with Adam’s support –the Gemini 2000 hi-lo platform bath. This 2-metre long bath is the largest platform bath available on the market and delivers assured future-proof bathing for children and adults. The Gemini 2000 reduces transfer risks and increases bather comfort through a unique ‘double-lift’ mechanism and an integrated drying, changing and bathing platform. Its inbuilt antimicrobial BioCote technology is a pioneering innovation that protects against harmful Superbugs.
