Bathing and Sleep – joining the dots

Date:                        5th February 2020

Time:                       10:00 – 10:30am

Location:                Theatre 2

Synopsis:
Bathing assessments often become focused on the physical transfer of getting in and out of the bath. In this session we consider the occupation of bathing with a particular focus on how bathing can support sleep and positive routines. We will discuss the impact on children and their parents as well as adults and their carers.

Learning outcomes:

  • Delegates will reflect on bathing as a meaningful occupation
  • Greater appreciation of the link between bathing and sleep
  • Consider impact of a positive bedtime routine on clients and their carers
  • Develop greater understanding of equipment available to support bathing as a meaningful occupation

This new seminar complements the wider Abacus CPD training programme and free ‘Lunch and Learn’ assisted bathing workshops. OTAC delegates may obtain full information at Stand 18, alongside guides to DFG bath funding and assistive bathing case studies. Demonstrations of the larger Gemini 2000 platform bath, with unique infection control technology and innovative modular design, will be available for visitors seeking bespoke and future-proofing assisted bathing solutions. This proven height-adjustable Abacus bath recently received the Excellence in Caring award at the OT Show 2019.
