Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions has been presented with the acclaimed Excellence in Caring Award at the OT Show for its pioneering Gemini 2000 hi-lo bath (The Occupational Therapy Show, Stand D10, NEC, 27-28 November).

The OT Show is the largest annual exhibition to provide a showcase of the latest assistive products, services and CPD education for occupational therapists. Abacus is one of the most popular exhibitors at this event with a range of innovative baths and well-attended CPD seminars delivered in conjunction with the OT Service.

Excellence in caring awardThe Gemini 2000 is a larger and longer version of the original Gemini bath which is regarded as a proven choice by many occupational therapists. The Gemini is a power assisted bath with variable height and integrated platform so that carers and disabled bathers can benefit from greater safety and comfort. Carers can support at safe working heights without the need to bend and awkward transfers are eliminated so changing and drying is more dignified for bathers. Manufactured in the UK by the respected Gainsborough Healthcare Group, the Gemini 2000 was introduced in 2019 to offer a future proofed approach to bathing. With its 2-metre long bathing space, it can support a wider range of adult and paediatric care needs and represents the largest platform bathing solution on the market today.

Following its nomination by the exhibition organisers, the judging panel visited the Abacus stand at the show and were given a product demonstration by David Bertorelli, Abacus Regional Assessment Manager. This material was combined with the original awards submission so that the experienced judges could make an informed decision regarding the winner.

Abacus’ success was announced at the end of day one during the exhibitor drinks reception with Andy Williams, Abacus Sales and Marketing Manager receiving the award on behalf of the brand.
